PERSONAL TASTING NOTES FROM TONY AND DAVID HIGGINS -
Coffee
Highly recommended this autumn is our Java-Chagga-Mocha Blend. We combine coffees from some of the world's earliest sources of coffee, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Java, mixing medium and dark beans to create a coffee which has some bright top notes, a rich gamey background and earthy finish. I like this coffee either black or with a little hot milk and it is best filtered or made in a cafetiere.
If you enjoy a mild coffee without too much acidity the Hanover Blend which is a mixture of four different African, Central and South American coffees served with milk and made in a filter is an ideal choice. Of course you can also use a cafetiere if you wish. This blend was first created for those who like a German style of filter coffee.
Tea
Lately we have introduced some very exciting new teas and we are expecting some more very soon. This year we have sourced new Darjeeling teas from Makaibari which is one of the best and most consistant gardens in the region. The estate is run by fourth generation owner Rajah Banerjee and his vision has created the wonderful teas which we now offer. Darjeeling Makaibari 1st Flush Grand Reserve and Darjeeling Makaibari 2nd Flush Grand Reserve are unrivalled in flavour and character.
