Tiramisu is a coffee-flavoured Italian dessert and a favourite of ours at H. R. Higgins.

The literal meaning of Tiramisu in Italian is “pick me up” or “cheer me up”. As the name suggests, this is an iconic Italian dessert that is served at the end of the meal.

There are many variations on the classic recipe, however we are huge fans of Donna Hay’s simple take on this Italian staple. It’s incredibly easy to put together meaning you can enjoy a delicious in a matter of minutes!

Donna Hay Tiramisu Recipe

Ingredients:

Savoiadi sponge fingers

Your favourite H. R. Higgins coffee for espresso

Coffee Liqueur

Vanilla Ice Cream

Dark Chocolate for serving.

 

Method:

The below makes one portion of tiramisu. To make more, simply repeat this for each person.

Step 1: Take 2 sponge fingers and place them on a plate.

Step 2: Create your coffee mixture. For this, we use our 1942 Blend to make the espresso. You can use an espresso machine or moka pot for this. Then combine one part coffee with two parts coffee liqueur.

Step 3: Taking the coffee mixture, drizzle 3 tablespoons over your sponge fingers.

Step 4: Next, take one scoop of vanilla ice cream and lay on top of your sponge fingers.

Step 5: Again, take your coffee mixture and drizzle another 2 tablespoon over the ice cream.

Step 6: Finish the tiramisu with shavings of rich dark chocolate.

Step 7: Serve and enjoy!
