The Tea
Our Formosa Lapsang Souchong is an exquisite black tea, smoked gently for a unique and superb flavour.
Formosa refers to the old Portugese name for Taiwan. This Asian island nation has long been famed for its tea production.
The word ‘Souchong’ is a term used to describe large leaves that have been rolled lengthwise and are therefore somewhat coarser in texture.
This highest grade luxury black tea is smoked slowly underneath burning ropes. The leaves are only partially dried before the smoking, so as they continue to dry, they absorb more of the smoky flavour.
The result is a tea with a smooth smokiness, earthy with tobacco notes.
Our Formosa Lapsang Souchong tea is slightly stronger than China Lapsang Souchong because of the way it is smoked.
Recommended brew method
We recommend brewing this Formosa Lapsang Souchong tea for 3 and a half minutes at 95°C. Best served black or with a slice of lemon.

What Could Be More British Than A Cup of Tea?
It is estimated in Britain we drink 165 million cups of tea a day. From the moment we wake up the kettle is on for a brew in many households across the country, and tea just seems to make everything better.
