Product Description

1942 coffee blend was created by David Higgins to satisfy those customers who enjoy a classic espresso coffee using only Arabica beans. This ensures a smooth, rich shot with no bitterness.

In 1942, Harold Rees Higgins, our founder, started the business. He was a young, ambitious grocer and had worked for The Kenya Coffee Company (now better known as Kenco) before leaving to pursue his passion for roasting exceptional coffees. This blend pays tribute to his efforts and we thank him for believing in coffee and his family who are proud to still carry his name and legacy today.

This coffee is an exceptionally rich roast with beans from some of the magnificent small-batch coffee farms in Brazil, Colombia and Costa Rica.

We blend both medium and dark roasted coffee beans to create a blend which has notes of sweet caramel and is powerfully fruity.

This coffee is best made as an espresso. Use 18g of espresso ground coffee and extract for 23 seconds. It cuts beautifully through milk and makes a delicious base to lattes or cappuccinos.

H.R. Higgins sources all of its coffee through long-established relationships with individual coffee farms, cooperatives and trusted coffee partners. In most cases, we have direct relationships with farmers which span decades.

Sustainability is a hugely important factor to us as a business and now, more generally in the wider coffee industry. The most important part of the entire
coffee process is that the coffee farmers, their families and their communities all benefit from our relationships. Specifically, we work with farms that care for the local environment, and support both their workers and their families. This is the first and most crucial step in the process of producing exceptional coffee.
