We met Nicaragua La Bastilla farm owner Markus Fischer in 2016 and now we can proudly offer his coffee.

This micro lot of coffee has been specially prepared for us on the farm and is called Blueberry Candy.

The La Bastilla farm is located in North-East Nicaragua and is 311 hectares in size, of which 160 is dedicated to coffee and 143 to primary forest. The coffee is shade grown under 49 varieties of tree and there are 21 species of animals and 68 different bird species on the farm.

All the processing, from nursery planting, to processing by both wet and natural methods, through to milling are all done on the farm. FEER – (The Foundation for Rural Education and Entrepreneurship) manages a technical school at Nicaragua La Bastilla Farm, to promote quality education for youngsters at the farm and in the region.

Blueberry Candy is a naturally processed coffee, the beans are hand-picked when ripe and dried carefully in the sun. This imbibes the coffee with a very fruity sweet flavour which we unlock by roasting to a light to medium colour.

We recommend brewing this coffee as a filter or pourover. Use 19g of finely ground coffee per 250ml of water.
