Limited Edition 75th Anniversary Tea Caddy Tin

On 16th September 1944, Harold Rees Higgins first opened the doors to the H.R. Higgins shop with the sole aim to supply coffee to businesses and individuals affected by the war. The H.R. Higgins shop is now proudly celebrating its 75th anniversary. We have therefore created 75 Limited Edition Tea Caddies, each beautifully hand-painted by fashion and textile designer Ann-Louise Roswald.

Despite H.R. Higgins starting out life as a wholesale coffee merchants, Harold Higgins quickly recognised the exquisite qualities of tea. He soon became infatuated with the tea growing and processing business, and the enormous variety of flavours afforded by origin, cultivation methods and manufacturing. He also noted the idiosyncrasies in the tea making rituals of individuals. For example, with lemon, without, milk in first or milk in last. It’s a highly controversial topic!

When Ann-Louise redesigned the Duke Street shop in 2016, she created the original ‘Coffee Bean’ design for the encaustic cement floor tiles in the cafe.  She even hand painted the huge tea tins that adorn the shop floor. Now our customers can enjoy little slice of our shop at home, with one of these 75 individually numbered caddies.

Each tea caddy tin will come hand-wrapped in a H.R. Higgins gift box, along with a bag of our specially created Anniversary Blend Tea. These caddies are a Limited Edition product and they will be sold on a first come, first served basis.
