Kenya Estate - Mr Higgins Recommends

I have come to think of this month’s coffee, Kenya Estate, as being the dry white wine of the coffee world. Kenya Estate coffees are famous, sought after by buyers on the world coffee markets, reaching very high prices for quality and individuality. Their very fine complex flavours dance on the palate. They give our palates a complete contrast of experience to most other fine coffees.

Our Kenya Estate is grown by Acacias members of from six cooperative societies in the Nyeri region, just one hundred miles from the foot of Mount Kenya. We roast Kenya Estate as a light roast because we believe that degree of roasting best unlocks and releases its deliciously fruity undertones and lively acidity.

If you need a morning wake-up start to your day Kenya Estate will provide it with a bright lively flavour and high aroma. Alternatively, it also makes for very fine after-dinner coffee, especially when finishing the meal with a rich pudding or cheese and fruit. It has the ability to cleanse and refresh the palate.

Kenya Estate is a coffee full of character with its own very distinctive personality. It prepares well in all coffee makers. I specially recommend it prepared by pour over filters or plunger pots.

Sincerely

Tony Higgins

Rwandan Women's Cooperative Coffee - Mr Higgins Recommends

This month I am recommending a coffee produced by women. The Rwanda Women’s Cooperative Coffee Rusiga Sector is a collection of small farms entirely owned by women. They took over the ownership of their lands and are now expert coffee farmers with the help of the Kinini Project.

Mr Higgins recommends - Guatemala Nueva Granada

For February I am recommending one of my favourite light roasted coffees, Guatemala Nueva Granada from Central America. Grown high up in the remote area of San Marcos in sight of Central America’s highest mountain with its twin peaks, the extinct volcano, Tajumulco.
