Christmas Blend - Mr Higgins Recommends

It hardly seems possible that another year has almost gone, but as I look out from my desk to the garden, the signs of the year passing are there. The acers have lost their wonderful colour and soon the frosts will come to complete their dramatic changes to my view.

But I remind myself that winter has its compensations, and one of them is the new blend we have introduced for Christmas 2023.  I am enjoying it as I write to you.  Once again, our two magicians of flavour, David Higgins, and David Atkinson, responsible for quality, sourcing, roasting and blending, have risen to the challenge of producing a new coffee for Christmas: Christmas Blend.

It has a lovely aroma which I enjoy as I grind the beans just before making my coffee. It reminds me of warm cakes just out of the oven. This blend has a fruity edge and a smooth finish with notes of chocolate, orange, and brown sugar.

Our Christmas Blend is brilliantly versatile and will suit most brewing methods. I suggest enjoying it black as a finish to a Christmas lunch or dinner, but it will take cream. At breakfast, experiment with it as a black coffee or with hot milk. It is a coffee to enjoy with friends and family at any time throughout the Christmas season, or as a special cup just for you when guests have gone.

I send my very best wishes to you at this time of year, for a very happy Christmas and a healthy New Year.

Sincerely

Tony Higgins

Rwandan Women's Cooperative Coffee - Mr Higgins Recommends

This month I am recommending a coffee produced by women. The Rwanda Women’s Cooperative Coffee Rusiga Sector is a collection of small farms entirely owned by women. They took over the ownership of their lands and are now expert coffee farmers with the help of the Kinini Project.

Mr Higgins recommends - Guatemala Nueva Granada

For February I am recommending one of my favourite light roasted coffees, Guatemala Nueva Granada from Central America. Grown high up in the remote area of San Marcos in sight of Central America’s highest mountain with its twin peaks, the extinct volcano, Tajumulco.
