Mr Higgins Recommends: Guatamala Nueva Granada

For April I am recommending one of my favourite light roasted coffees, Guatemala Nueva Granada from Central America. Grown high up in the remote area of San Marcos in sight of Central America’s highest mountain with its twin peaks, the extinct volcano, Tajumulco.

It's grown by Dieter and Holly Nottebaum who have been supplying us with their excellent coffee for the last nineteen years. Both Dieter and Holly are keen supporters of the local environment and its people, including providing scholarships for the local children.

We light roast Guatemala Nueva Granada to develop and highlight its complex and intriguing flavours, with hints that remind us of nectarine and apple. It will show its flavour notes when prepared by all coffee making methods. I enjoy it most when I use the pour-over filter system. If you are using a Cafetière plunger pot I suggest being just a little more generous with the amount of ground coffee you use, and as we always say, when talking about any of our varieties, we recommend you having your own coffee grinder, to enjoy the complete experience of preparing and drinking your special cup of coffee.

With my very best wishes at the beginning of Spring.

Sincerely

Tony Higgins

Ethiopia Guji Hambela - Mr Higgins Recommends

It seems fitting that for my first Mr Higgins recommends at the start of a New Year, we go back to where we think the story of commercial Coffee Drinking began. When it was a new phenomenon to experience for those first European explorers, travellers and adventurers visiting and discovering Ethiopia.
